Default Engine swap or buildup?

Hi, this winter I plan on either replacing my engine, or rebuild the one I have.
I plan on spending about a total of 5.700 US dollars. This includes shipping to Norway and 22% in taxes for the parts.

What I`m looking into is a 302cid/ 345HP crate engine from Ford Racing or putting all that money in my mostly stock 289.

How much TRUE DYNOPROVEN horsepower can I get if I build a 289/347 stroker engine and how steetable will it be?

What do you guys think, buy the new engine (I know they are way good) or rebuild my old?

(Furthermore I`m replacing the C-4 with a Toploader to handle the power)

Thanx

Default RE: Engine switch or buildup?

well i have a 347 from coast high performance and im putting out about 560 i mean it really depends i would go with the 302 and bore it i mean 289 is the same thing as the 302 just the pistons are smaller and small other stuff are different . my engine is basically a pro-street engine and now im deciding wether to build a 351w or cleveland and stroke it to a 427 or 408 i mean if you really want a high performance car then yeh stroke it!! you get alot of hp as long as you know what u are doing. but also what do want to want a lil hp and daily driver?? or u want a pro-street ride??? as for me i was a daily driver ...and now im take it out sum times lol but i mean it all depends what u want . i enjoy my 347 its fun especially wen ur smokin other cars lol just study about the engine and see what its limit see what u like by studing the advantage and disadvantages as for me the adavtage: hella fast the disadvantage: gas is hella exspensive!!!. but study yours and other engines and if you want a ho car i would prefer stroking the engine!!!!

A 289 and 302 have the same piston and rods. Only the crank is different. If that 289 is a 65 then the heads and valve train are better than a stock 302. I would build the 289 myself. Or if you want the most you can get out of your stang then go with the 351 and a stroker kit.

By the way. That C4 with a good converter and a shift kit will be faster than a 4-speed and easier on rear ends and u-joints.
