But how many hours did it take you to install? $3500, is not just for the motor itself, but for all the things described in my original post, and installation. Or should it bee $1500 installed? That seems a little low. i did the math.... If the rebuilt engine is $1500 that laeaves $2000 for labor at eighty something and hour, and to have the radiator, carb, fuel pump, and hoses redone.
Charging 2K bux to take out and put in an I6 Mustang motor for labor alone is ludicrous. That can be done in a weekend with two guys and the rented motor mount and puller for a few hundred. Good grief, how naive can you be?

I just completed a I6 to V8 swap in a 68 and he barely spent that much for everything.

wow, you soaring you're kind of a jerk. I dont have i people i trust to do this. So its up to a mechanic. The $2000, like i said is not labor alone, it includes other things but whatever.
btw, heres a way not to make a person feel like an idiot, "thats a ripoff" instead of "how naive can you be"

Thats just too much money for a rebuild, etc. you can have someone rebuild the block and buy all new fuel pump, hoses, radiator, etc for half that price. you dont have to take our advise we just dont like to see people being taken advantage of. its not a personal attack but it looks like you should have shopped around a bit more before making a decision on the mechanic. but as long as you can afford it, go ahead and enjoy..
