AHA! 4sMT = 4 speed Manual Transmission. Now, I really feel stupid. The motor has been changed to a 302 from a 289, and he either has a top loader or a T-10. Now, we are getting somewhere. Ain't the English language fun? BTW, the toploader replaced the Borg Warner T10 in 1964, so chances are pretty good that is a top loader.

Hot damn!...Just got out from under the Stang (I really gotta clean my driveway) and its a Toploader. And while I was down there I was able to figure out that I have an 8" rear end, thanks to the FAQ section. Thanks for all the help guys!!

Glad you got her figured out. Ain't it fun to actually know what you have? Now, you need to determine the gears in that 8 incher. Most likely it is a 280 if it is a stock car, but you can determine that by going to your VIN and decode it. Most likely the rear has not been changed, but one never knows. Hell, you could have a fire spitting 302 with a toploader and 4:11 gears.

Laughs...............funny you should mention that 411 rear gear. Thats exactally what I have. The original gear was the 280 (yeah I got the VIN decoded), but was changed somewhere along the way. It does make one stand up and take notice, but the speedo is just a bit off because they didnt change out the speedo gears in the tranny. The 411 isnt in the VIN of course, and not wanting to pull the differential, I put a mark on the drive shaft and turned the rear axel through one complete turn and counted the number of times the drive shaft rotated.....justt a tad bit over 4 turns......got to figure its a 410 or 411.

There ya go. A fire breathing 302 with a toploader and a 411 rear. Tell us what you have in the engine for upgrades.

No upgrades as yet.....just got the car about a week ago. But I would like to see a couple of upgrades in the way of a bit more cam with roller rockers.....a bigger carb, maybe a 4bbl. Remember, this car is for a 17yo high school boy, and they have only one thing on thiers minds.......getting from one stop light to the next at Mach 1.n A lot of upgrades will depend on the son getting a job and helping in the cash flow department. Right now we are settling for rebuilding the brakes, front end suspention and steering. He has picked out the paint he wants and the interior colors. We are going with a Dupont Concord Blue Effect paint, a nice rich metallic and white raly stripes. The interior will be all black.

Sounds nice.. I hope he doesnt treat his first car like I treated mine.. 20 years later I am now fixing all the damage I did to it.. and what was under the paint I didnt know about.

the stock heads will keep him out of trouble, if you overcam it, it can actually go slower but sound really fast and have that lumpy idle..lol.. just dont tell him that.. Tell him it will be faster with the huge cam... kids will believe it..
