Convertible top adjustment?

Default Convertible top adjustment?

Its getting cold in NY-tried to put the top up,and it is falling about a 1/4 short of closing easily.I cant get it latched but i need the help of a second person-is there away to adjust the top? I tried up/down/up a couple times-I also tried assisting the closing with a little muscle-any help? thanks scott

the cylinder arms that raise and lower the top could be going bad man. Um also try it with the windows down already if you havent. i have had problems with the same thing and I needed to get new cylinders.

You need to get the 1964-66 CONVERTIBLE TOP REPAIR MANUAL. I got it and it's come in very handy. One (of many places) to get it is at http://www.early-mustang.com/books/book36.htm

Thanks-your car looks good too....I have a sixty six(hence the screen name)-what is your interior like? would love to see some pixs-do you have speakers and a sound system-have you upgraded your front suspenstion? thinking about that next scott

My 67 is the same, when it's warm, no problem, but since my top is usually down from April until November, I have to wrestle with it to get it to latchup in the fall. Sometimes I have to close it as far as I can with the hydraulics and let it sit for a day or two in the garage to stretch the top. You want the top tight and not loose and sloppy or it will flap around at speed.
