Default Door lock problems

First post of many I'm assuming.

Me and the GF bought a 1966 mustang about a year ago. Today I just noticed the door lock on the driver side was hard to push down.

So I shut the door and tried to key lock it (they only work with keys she was still in the car to push it down to lock it).

It was pretty hard to turn but it did make the lock go down.

I pushed the door button and it made the lock thingie go up a tad. Pushed it in about 5 more times and voila unlocked.

I honestly have no clue what might cause this. Just thrwoing it out there b4 I take it to the shop I bought it from for them to take a look. Not a huge deal might just make me throw in that power door lock setup earlier then planned.
