Default Carb for 1966 GT Fastback - ?

Hello. New to the board. I have the stated car w/ a 289. I am wanting to replace the carb (currently has a Holly) w/ a 600 cfm carb. Any suggestions?

Edelbrock 500 cfm.
Holleys are fire hazards and made in Mexico.

Put a Motorcraft 4100 on it. 600 cfm and original Ford equipment.

600 cfm is too much for a 289/302. Go with an Edelbrock 500 cfm and electric choke. No tweeking necessary. Most of them run perfectly right out of the box. Please don't think that a bigger carb means more power. 500 cfm is more than enough...

Why are you getting rid of the Holley?

I will be purchasing a 600 cfm edelbrock for my 302 but I plan on making quite a few performance upgrades. As previously stated, 500 cfm should work great on a relatively stock motor.

Did a little more "digging" into my carb. The Holley is a 3752; I may be wrong but it looks to be a DP 750cfm sitting on the stock manofold. I think the 289 has had some cam modifications (prior to my purchase), maybe that is why it has such a big carb. I am thinking about (from reviewing the feedback) going with a 600 cfm with matching manofold (maybe Edelbrock). What do you think? Anyone have any suggestions? Summit has combo kits that look nice. BTW, thanks to everyone for the great feedback.

Smaller is better. I like the 500cfm Edelbrock. I have 2 on my Maverick engine.
