You owe me a cup of coffee. I just spewed mine all over the monitor.
Snap a shot of it, and let's have a look. If DodgeStang says it is supposed to be there so oil gets to your cam, then you can bet your booty it is supposed to be there. I want to see exactly what hole you are talking about.
and again here... its supposed to be there. Looks strange, but its there for a reason..
If I can get the inttake off one of my 302s I will post a pic of it for you. just might pull the one from the Cougar tonight.. might.

Now, there are two of the smartest guys we have on this forum saying it is supposed to be there. DS and Thumpin have been there, done that. So, trust them for accurate information. Now that you have that problem solved and you don't have to replace the block, what are your next steps?
thanks guys i dont know much about engines so i will trust you i have to show this forum to my friend he says it not supposed to be there but what do chevy guys really know[&:][&:]
tell your chevy friend I have a 468 with 350 rods and 400 4 barrel heads on it.. The heads have 2.11 intakes, 1.77 exhaust valves, and a factory air gap manifold, its all stock parts with nothing custom. He will say something like no way, never could be.. or something similar..
then tell him I have a stock 71 small block head that factory flows 340cfm@.600 lift... he will call BS again...

I am tearing down the engine blind i have never attempted this feat before i just took off the oil pan and almost had a heartattack, there is so much stuff under it should i pull off the pistons before the crank
