Default 71-73 mustangs?

Is it just me, or are 71-73 mustangs becoming rare?
Right now I am not in the position to buy one, but in a good year I will, and I am looking to resto-mod it to my own desire. So I am essentially looking for a straight body with no engine. Or with an engine, it doesn’t really matter that much.

Does anyone know where there is a lot around Dallas Texas that deals with these kinds of mustangs? So I can look around?

They arent usually expensive to buy when you find them. Especially if it isnt a fastback and had a 302 in it. 351C 2V powered ones arent pricey either. Pick up an auto trader and keep your eyes open, they are out there. Since they werent as desireable as the older ones for a long time, and had a much lower production than say the 66, they arent as easy to find.

Best part about them is almost any Ford passenger car engine will fit in them rather easily. If I keep mine it will get a stroked 460 with aluminum CJ heads, in about 3 or 4 years.. Just your average 650 hp engine...

I am a fastback (or actually, it's called sportsroof for these models If I am not mistaken) person. I don't like the lines of the coupe. I just hope I can still find a great deal next year.

I was actually thinking about the 460 for in my future 71-73 sportsroof. I saw first hand how it moved a lincoln conti and was hooked. That engine had some odd 400 horsepower, but purred like a kitten. Got around 11 miles to the gallon, but you don't get that car and that engine for gas mileage.

how much you willing to spend.. could build to your specs.. And have it done next year sometime, or at least at the point where you could finish it.

You could always get a Bayliner with a big Mercruiser inboard, and cruise Lake Dallas on the weekends so you get used to driving a boat before you actually get a 71-73 Sportsroof. Nah, just yanking your chain. Look in the Dallas Morning News on Sundays, and get the Autotrader that is free at any convenience store. Call the prez of the Mustang Club of Dallas and ask if any of his members are selling. Check the Craig List to see if maybe one is for sale in the DFW area.

What do you mean we don't have any water here? We have the Blanco river and wood creek right cheer in my little town. Most of the time you can wade across them and not get your shoes wet, but they are still considered to be waterways. Oh yeah, we have Canyon Lake about a stone's throw from here, and it is where you could run your Bayliner. So yeah, central Texas is inundated with several good sized lakes. They have a bunch around DFW though. I used to go camping on an island on a lake just North of Ft. Worth. Can't remember the name, but it had chiggers on it, so it was definitely not for the old at heart.

We have this lake that is supposed to be well known, its about a mile away. Some guy named Gordon Lightfoot wrote a song about a guy named Edmund Fitzgerald that sank on the lake with 29 guys, he said the lake was called gitchee gumee by the chippewa, and you dont want to be on it in November.. Maybe you have heard of it, its called lake Superior.. not sure why though... Funny thing is, I cant see the other side, and when we took some guys out on the charter boat to catch some lake trout, we couldnt see land anywhere around us.. just this old lighthouse stickin up out of the water.. I think they called it Stannard Rock...

yeah but its not like its the biggest fresh water lake in the world or anything.. you should come up and go fishin with us next summer... Theres nothing like fresh lake trout
