Chromoly is an alloy, an alloy is a combination of metals (e.g.aluminum and iron) where as steel is just one metal (iron).

Regular push rods will bend if something bad happens
Chrome moly will not

If you have guides you better be running chrome moly because regular pushrods will wear down

Better of the two....really depends on application....but chrome moly is the better choice for a performance application.

Whether you need them or not depends on your rocker. Boltdown fulcrum, no guideplate, screw in/press in stud - guide plate.
