Default Vinyl Dye

Anyone have any experience with vinyl dye?

I picked up a humphugger console for dirt cheap, but it's brown [:'(] (probably why it was so cheap lol).

Looking for any advice/opinions on how to turn it black

Yeah, I vinyl dyed my console. Just make damn sure it is oil free and super clean. Even oil from your hands need to come off it. I used rubbing alcohol to prep with. Going to black will be easy because it will only take two coats. Good luck with it.

Vinyl dye in spray can works rather well on alot of these old stang parts. I have used it on armrests, kneepad, kick panels, even windlace molding. Seems to provide a decent look and easy to use. Like Soaring said, clean the part well with some kind of degreaser (like Prep All from Autozone) and spray away. May take several coats to get the desired look...good luck...

BTW...where did you get that humphugger? Anymore good deals on those? Would like to have one myself...

I have used it a lot in the past. The stuff in the spray can works well. As mentioned before, make sure your part is clean, clean, clean.

I turned the Red bench seat in my truck black with the vinyl dye from the spray cans. I cleaned in with a scrub brush and Mean Green. It's been in my truck for about 6 years now and hasn't worn off yet. Still black!

on the interior metal, use a basecoat/clearcoat just like the outside. you can have your paint distributor pump it into spray cans if you desire. Good prep., lots of sanding, cleaning and coats.
