Is a 68 Mustang supposed to have the front two bucket seats sitting on platforms? Mine are bolted right to the floorboard./??

 

Cjpony sells them for a 68 so i would assume so, the part numbers are M132L and M132R (left and right)

 

Sounds like it might be a semantic issue.

Yes they sit on risers and yes they bolt down to the floor board in appearance. The floor board has a built in riser box.

 

The seat platform is where all of the strength for mounting your seat comes from. Without the platform, the floorboard would flex and eventually fail.

 

Good luck gettin gthem in back right withought the measurements from the originals to go by.

 

I would bet someone removed them because they were a tall person. Mustang Monthly or Mustang Plus had a posting about how to cut them down to make the riser smaller for people like me that own these classics and are 6'5".

 

In terms of proper location, my understanding is that the primary concern is to make sure that the 4 bolt holes in the seat riser lines up with the 4 access hole in the floor pan. They must line up so that you can get a socket on the seat bolts when you try to install the seat.
In my case, the seat riser is the only thing left, so do not have this problem.[:@]
