Default brighter headlights article in faq

has anyone ever actually used the information in the faq section to brighten their headlights? if so, i am trying to do the same and have a question. which of the blades on the relays is the ground? my blades have a 30, 85. 86, 87 and an 87a. i purchased them from a carquest dealer.

i should have said that i could not find the pigtails for the relays and am having to make them, which is no big deal. i just don't know which blade on the relay is for the ground.

I have an external harness and run my lights on my '71 and '65 through relays. I don't remember which blade is which, so if you could post a diagram or clear picture of what you have, I can tell you what goes where. Basically, the one of the coil terminals will go to switched power while the other goes to ground.

i'm sorry, i just do not have the technology to do that. it is a relay i purchased at carquest and is part number ry1115. if you look at the diagram on the article in th faq, it has the same numbers as the relay shown on the last page. my relay has 5 blades, #30, 85, 86, 87, and 87a. sorry i can't do better.

85 or 86. The other will go to the switched power. IE, 85 to ground and 86 to switched power.
