Default Looking for a new distributor

hey all
i need me a new distributor. ive been shopping around, and the obvious choice is MSD. However, i dont think they offer an HEI chevy-style coil-in-cap distributor. i found a company that does, DUI.

http://www.performancedistributors.com/

Does anyone know anything about this company? Are they as good as their prices (nearly 400 for a Ford distributor) suggest? thanks in advance for any help, posting in this forum always gets my questions answered.

If you already have one in your car and just want to upgrade, I'd strongly suggest Jacobs. You can't go wrong with their conversion. Get on their web site and call them. They will tune it to your engine and car. Put it in and forget it. Expect more miles per gallon and way better preformance. I won't run anything but Jacobs in all of my toys.

Second suggestion is try ebay. I've seen dozens of different ones there.

no, its not for a performance motor. but ive got a pretty weak spark, and i generally hate looking at the coil cluttering up my engine compartment. overall, the car is running great and as near as i can tell the stock distributor is working just fine.

If it works, don't fix it.

I agree with Horseshoeing, if it aint broke, don't fix it. That said, you can improve it (for alot less than $400) by converting your existing distributor to breakerless and adding a hotter stock type coil.
