Default Mechanical "freshen up"

My car has been in the shop for over 7 days getting a mechanical "freshen up" including:

New brake calipers

Dual master brake reserve with booster

All new hoses

New battery

New shocks

New rear shoes

New leaf spirngs

New Dynaflow mufflers

New Battery

Pertonix ingnition

New plugs and new wires

New Sway bar

New Tires

New Motor Mounts

Rebulit rear end differential

New valves and hoses for air conditioning

All new fluids

New KYB shocks

And a bunch of little replacment parts whereever needed.

And keep in mind that this car was in decent shape when I bought - it juts has never gottent hte full attention it deserves.

I afraid d to look at the bill of this part of my restoration. Keep in mind this is without any MAJOR issues. Anyone have any idea of what this should cost - I figure the mechanical labor at 40 hours (75 bucks per hour is the labor charge where I live)

Its alot of stuff... but its alot of easy stuff nothing really complicated their... except the rearend rebuild which i have never messed with on a ford so maybe thats not bad either. Probably could of done alot of that your self and saved some major dough

I would LOVE to have done this stuff myself.... except I have no time, no skill... and no tools!

How I envy those of you who have the knowledge to fix your own cars - what a great feeling that must be...

I think you're looking at $5-6k. Hey, ya' can't take it with you.

Even if you do the labor yourself, it is not necessarily cheap. Cash has been flowing like water lately while I've been acquiring parts and a new engine. Just about the time I recover, it'll be time for paint. [sm=helpout.gif]

Like I did with my Jeep build-up, I think it'd be better if I don't add up the recipts. Ignorance is bliss.

Enjoy your freshened ride!

I know that one. I've had my '71 for 16+ years and this is the least expensive winter to date...$1k. [&:]
