Default Fuel & Brake Lines

Hey guys, just got done with the rear frame rails and the new leaf springs and gas tank have been installed now I want to run new gas and brake lines. Was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the route they take, when i bought the car they were already gone, along with most everything else in the car.

I would imagine they run together down the drivers side, but how is the fuel line navigated through the rear end? I know it will come out by the frame rail and go through the fender apron but i'm not really sure how it should look. I have a manual but it really doesn't give a good look at it.

Also what diameter are the rear brake lines and fuel line?

Thanks guys

Only two ways I can think of are

1 Try to find an Ford Shop Manual appropriate for the year. My recollection is that they cover the lines pretty well

2 Possibly you can find another car with an kindly owner who will let you get under with a camara and a note pad.

Obviously there are places where the steel gives way to flexible .

For example between the rear axle and the frame on the brakes and between the gas tank and the line and between the fuel pump and the line at the front.

Be warned--This will not be a quick job nor will it be fun. Brush up on your foul language skills you will be needing them

PS-If you don't have them buy the proper bending, cutting and fitting tools

Yeah i couldn't believe my ford manual didnt really show the lines at all... was kinda dissapointed.

My dad's buddy has a 66 mustang so it would probably be worth going over to that guys house and crawling under, see how they run.

For the front i bought the pre bent stainless lines and i ended up having to bend them all up to fit anyways so i figure whats the point in spending so much more for the pre bent lines... i plan on reusing my flex line off the rear axle for now. I just want to see this car roll so bad i am trying to just get everything together so i can go down the road with it. It'll be a site to see, open headers, no hood, no fenders, no trunk lid....... i'll make a movie and post it lol

And i do have the tools, it'd be near impossible to do without... i have put full brake lines on cars in the past but i just made them work and didnt care about looks.... i want these to atleast look close to what they are supposed to be.

Any idea on the diameter? looks like 5/16 but without a piece of one of the lines its hard to tell.

What year is your Mustang? If it is a 65 or 66, I will crawl under mine and snap some pics for you.

68, the fuel line runs on the driver side. The back brake line runs inside the drive shaft tunnel.

+1, classic tubes will have them prebent so they will practically fall into place. My lines were missing when bought aswell, but I know they run along the drivers side held in place with little clips every so often. I believe, dont qoute me, it 1/4" tubing...

The brake lines are 3/16". The pax side rear runs on top of the rear axle and down the driver's side on mine.
