Default Almost bought the farm today

I was on my way to town on a Farm to Market road going about 60 MPH, and a woman in an SUV pulled right in front of me. She was making a left hand turn. I slammed Ol' Yeller's brakes on and she barked back with a loud screech and all four wheels locked up. I could see that I would T-Bone her if I stayed on the brakes, so I hit the ditch. I got stopped and got back on the road after I had a few not so kind words with the woman. I tell ya' you just never know when an idiot is gonna screw up and put your life in danger, not to mention our precious cars. However, all this talk about disc brakes, and my drum brakes did just as well. All four brakes locked up and laid rubber. I couldn't have asked any more from Yeller than that. I need a beer!

Didn't seem to. She ran and handled just fine on the way home. It was a grassy kinda flat type ditch.

No Soaring,
You need a six-pack to calm down and celebrate that you didn't wreck ol' yeller and put her in the pound!!!

Check your lower controls arm.

I had a similar 'incident' on my driveway one weekend....and now my lower control arms are off the bushing

Glad to hear you are ok. I used to drive my Mustang out RR 12 to Wimberley to visit my sister in the early 90's. My drums had occasion to lock up when a deer appeared in the road at night just outside Dripping Springs.

i dont think its so much the drum brakes not working, i think its that they aren't as easy to work

the single cylinder master cylinders arent too swift either

Glad to hear everythings ok.

I lost my first stang (a 66 coupe) 15 years or so ago when someone pulled out of an alley infront of me. I t-boned her and wiped the entire front end. Then my ex got it in our divorce settlement. lol

At least you had the wits about you to realize your control over the car goes away when the wheels stop turning.
