ic thanks for the quick response. couldn't one just put in a say 1/4 strength plate under there where they mount to spread the stress so it doesn't damage the floor? Yea I know it would probably be easier to just get different shocks, but hey I'm 16, these sound cool
Like stated above, if you want the rear lifted, the best bet would be lifting springs.

And no, air shocks are not cool

never put airshocks on a stang or any car/truck for that matter shocks arent meant to support any, nada, none of the vehicles weight!
air shocks are just the slackers way of compensating for bad rear springs which hold all the weight of the vehicle!!

Ibe actually had a mustang that the air shock punched thru the floor! the floors is sheet metal and is very weak when it come to supporting a thousand pounds

lol, ok thanks. First I'll worry about gettin the car. Tomorrow somebody's comin buy to look at my truck, and if they buy it for 3 grand I will be heading over to pick up this stang as long as he hasn't sold it yet. I can't wait, wish me luck that it all works out.

it's only got a 289 3spd manual trans someday if I get it, 5spd trans and built up 289 stroker of some sort I would imagine. for now I just wanna do some minor things like high compression, intake 4 barrel and cam, headers, and wahtevver other small things I can think of.

before you buy, for the love of god check out the frame rails front and back, try and look under the car at the floors, the shock towers, the trunk surround..... that stuff gets expensive if you have to replace it, not to mention its a hassle

oh yea I will be lookin it over. I already gave it a pretty good exam. They replaced the rusted spots of the floor already. I'm still gonna crawl under it before I buy it and give all that structural stuff a good look over. Has maybe 2 or 3 minor rust holes in the body like at the rocker panels. I'm definately gonna give it a very good lookover before I make the final deal.

make sure to check to see if the floor has been patched from the shocks and if u buy it go straight to the parts store and pick up some real shocks
