Default Master Cylinder Question

I just bought a new (reconditioned) master cylinder and tried to put it on today. The problem that I'm running into is that the front portion (back brakes) won't bleed. The pedal will pump up firm, but won't release when you loosen the bleeder screw. You can even loosen the hose at the M/C and the pedal won't go down. I don't have this problem with the front brake portion. The pedal goes down when you open the line. Any ideas?

Thanks,

You've got something plugging up the hole to the line.

I think I just figured out my own problem. When putting the new M/C in, I noticed that it didn't go flush against the booster very easily. I had to push it flush, hold it and then put the nuts on. The push rod was too far out and partially pushing the piston in on the M/C before you ever pushed the pedal. I'm thinking that wouldn't allow it to open up and pull the fluid in on the front reservoir. I'm hoping that was the problem, anyway. I just put the M/C back on and will attempt to bleed in the morning.

O.K. So I put the new M/C on and bled the brakes, and bled the brakes, and bled the brakes. There is absolutely no more air coming out of the system now and I still don't have much breaking power. I just got in new front rotors (one of the existing ones is all chewed up on the inside) and brake pads. I'll be putting them on sometime next week. I also ordered new calipers and wheel cylinders (none of them seem to be leaking, though). I'll replace them as soon as they get in. If that doesn't fix my brake problem, I guess I'll just have to suck it up, take it to a brake shop, drop the cash, and let the pros have a crack at it. They certainly shouldn't have to replace anything since Iwill havedone it already(brake pads/shoes, M/C, rotors, calipers, cylinders). This didn't seem like a really difficult problem to fix when I first started, but it has certainly turned into a project. Oh well, at least I'll have a nearly new braking system.

I'm Still bleeding mine lol i've narrowed it down to the front left, how i came to this conclusion? Slam on the brakes going like 15 with hands not on steering wheel. Rear tires locked up and the car pulled to the right. Front left it is.

I often have trouble with this too. Rod lenth same? Did you bench bleed the master cylinder?(A MUST)Bench bleed the master cylinder first then install.New rotors will need to have there surface cleaned with carb cleaner or something to remove their protective film. Bleed the longest line first then work your way to the shortest. I wouldn't rule out a bad master cylinder either. Hope this helps.
