No time like the present to punch it .030 over install some nice forged slugs, turn the crank, have it all balanced, rebuild or replace the heads, and have a fresh new engine for around $1500-$2000 depending on where you get the machine work and parts from..
The last Cleveland I did cost me $1800 for the engine kit, machine work, cam kit, and I assembled it here. It will take a month or two to get the machine work done, and you can start saving up to buy the parts. Got everything for it from Summt and Jegs.. You have it out and ready to go, why not just do it and be done with it?

289/302 are some of the cheapest engines to rebuild. You will be happy you took the time if you do it...
Old farts know these things because they were often broke and needed things to run right too...
At the least, have it tanked, the crank turned, everything cleaned, new oil pump, rings, bearings and gaskets.. It will live for a while like that, especially if you dont beat it.. Shouldnt cost much more than $500 if you do it right.

umm this thing only has 7k miles on it since it was rebuilt there arent anywear marks on anything it just sat for 5 yrs b4 i started it and it ran really god after i seafomed it and then seafomed it again after 1k miles of driving its actually really clean on the inside don't let the pics fool you there is only one light in the room ya the pistons are dirty but thats cause a pulling the heads off and b cause the po had the carb way too rich i am correcting these problems trust me when i first got it i harldy drove itjust cause i didn;t believe it was rebuilt but it was crisp and strong but it eventuallly got rough and and then rougher and i narroed it down to the valves which it was but now that i got it out of the vehicle it has allowed me to inspect other things and surprisingly the tranny was rebuilt too the po didn;t tell me if it was or not but when i changed the filter it was really clean and in really goos shape so score i guess

Koolness... just some cleanin then. be careful not to get a bunch of crud in the gap between the piston crown and the cylinder, that stuff can mess up rings and score a cylinder real fast.. So its time to think about a new set of heads then...
