Default Air cleaner clearance?

I want to order the K&N Air cleaner for my 66 fastback. I have the air gap intake with Eldobrock carb. Does anybody have this combo? Wasn't sure what height to order? The motor isn't in the car. Maybe next week we'll get in the car. thanks

on my 67 w/302 standard intake 1 inch carb space I didn't have any clearance issues with the 3 1/4, I just had to fab a bolt long enough to work. On the other hand you could just get the drop base and it will bring the filter back down a bit.
[edit] Just go down to your local parts house when you get the engine in there and see what filters fit w/ without the drop base [/edit]

My neighbors 66 289 has an Edelbrock intake with Holley carb. He put on a KN filter 2 3/4 I think and with the stock air cleaner base the big Ford embossed nut tapped the hood. Put on a drop base and all was good.

Well you can't put the engine in the car with the air cleaner on anyways so just wait to get the air cleaner until after you have dropped the engine and take a quick measurement.

you'll be fine, I have a similar setup without any clearance issues.
