The guy from the GT-40 heads sent me following message :
"You will have to run the rockers and push rods from any 302 motor from 1978-up with the flat tappet lifters, non roller. It will be a bolt on at that point. There are allot of aftermarket roller rockers for this type of head, they are called bolt down rockers."

What do I need to get ? different push rods, flat tappet lifters (whats flat tappet?), or aftermarket roller rockers (the bolt down rockers?)

your pushrods should work fine with the gt-40 heads, you just need to use later model rocker arms (they bolt down onto the head instead of a stud sticking up with a nut on it. you can also keep your eyes open for C9xx or D0xx 351W heads, they are very close to the GT-40s, although the exhaust ports on the GT-40s are improved. (larger intake runners, bigger intake valves) I have a set all done up on my 302 (see my avatar) and it runs like a beast.

your casting number to identify heads if you want to match em should be on the underside near a intake runner if memory serves. should start with a C4 C5 or C6. ford used the alphabet for casting numbers to determine decade. for instance, C6xx would be 1966, D8xx would be 1978, E7xx would be 1987.. etc etc. i think they stopped doing that once the year 2000 rolled around though.
