Default Vacuum can. Where to mount?

70 Mach 1 351 C. Re-installing original A/C system. Can anyone tell me where the vacuum can gets mounted. The manual shows the passenger side, but does'nt tell you where. Under the right fender? Behind the firewall? Any help would be appreciated. Ralph

I can't tell you for sure on yours, but on my 68, the vacuum canister is mounted under the fender outside the engine bay. The connections poke through the inner fender.

Forward or to the rear of the shock tower?

Mine is mounted under the passenger side fender, attached to the firewall on the outside of the Apron.
I also have a 70 Mach1 that had a 351 in it.

Rear of the shock tower. Sounds like amcheif has the same set up on his 70 Mach 1.

PS: Do I have to remove the fender to mount the vac can?

If it mounts under the fender like on my 67', there will be a perforated or indentation spot where the factory would have put it. Just take a hole saw of the same size and cut it out. And it is behind the shock tower.
