have to run a forged crank, pistons, and some h-beam rods to keep it from grenading =)

 

seriously!? damn. i figured only running 6 lbs of boost on a 302 shouldnt be a problem, although (from what im told) i have low compression pistons<---- older buddy told me that, i dunno what they were, i just put it together and made it ran with all the goodies -Jon


Geez.... my GTp runs 12 lbs all day long, time for an IC and a smaller SC pulley for that bugger, time for the 12's

 

i tell u what, there are motors on ebay called the boss 302 clones they have cleve heads and a stock 302 w block they produce 400 hp at the flywheel already with stock cam, if u put a cam in there that was say oh a x-303 or slightly bigger u could see easy 500 hp out of the block and that would be all i would do because after that the block will start to split and u will end up with 2 4 cylinder motors. And all of this will cost u about 3500 so u can have a 500 hp monster 302 for ur budget

 

6 lbs of boost i recant my previous statement.... providing you have some dished pistons in there if they were hyperetectic (sp?) or forged you'd be ok but i wouldnt do it with cast pistons.

Stock block is good for about 450-500 hp. Not too hard to get, but you need a good rotating assembly, heads, cam, and intake.

Any more than that, you'll want an aftermarket block that's made for the power.

And to the guy thinking a 4.6L is a better platform...[sm=icon_rofl.gif] Have fun watching the tail lights of a Windsor.

 

400 hp or 600 hp, it won't make a difference if you can't get the car to hook up. I would take your 3-5k budget and spend 3-3500 on the motor and put the rest into suspension.

I've seen cars at the track barely pushing 350 or so hp take down some 502's just because they have the suspension mods to plant their power.
