E-Ticket! The Supercharge Rush
I went for my first ride in aPaxton Supercharged '65coupe. WOW! It was unbelievable!!!
For me the thrill of owning a vintage mustage is multifold. I love the looks, I love the 40 year old feel, I love the viseral sounds.
But I must say, the Paxton superchager gives this car a whole new dimension. The
g-force wasn't neck-snapping but a much more powerful rush with an amazing wail! Clearly, this car (all stock exept for the Paton) was transformed into an "alpha" Mustang. Even take off from red lights was a blast! I am not a speed freak but I still have a hugesmile on my face. And by the way, the look of the supercharherare killer.
I know there are less expensive ways to gain power, but after talking to several people with first-hand mechanical knowldge I believe this is the way to go if you want another 80 or so horses under the hood.
I'm am using my savings and taking the plunge - the Paxton is on order. I will post pictures of the installed untit when it is compelted.
I've gotten a pretty good education on what involved and what to expect with this unit. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them.

I was looking for a SC for mine, i have a roots on my GTP and was lookin for a roots charger for my stang, the weiand 174 on my 302. I heard it would not be able to handle the boost and it would pop unless i have forged internals. With this paxton it is a centrifugal SC, right? With an IC? So it will run cooler and less harm to the engine? This can run on stock internals? -Jon
The Paxton Novi 1200 was developed for the stock C code engine. The boost is set at 7.5. No modifiacation other than amatching Holly or Demon carburator is required.
The only maintainance is a 3000oil change.
As long as you do not push the engine at - or over - red line for prolonged periods of time the engine will handle the extra boost with no problem. Engine timing is a key issue as is using high octane gas.
What a blast!
Oh yeah - the other downside is cost - about $4,000. Too bad this kind of fun cost so much.

i want turbos forget a super[8D] i want a setup from www.hellionpowersystems.com for the 91 gt
turbo are more efficient
turbo are more efficient
im thinking a s/c in my future also. I'm gonna keep saving up and its gonna be a while since I'm starting college...although with the S/C I'll be able to go out to the local "dragstrip" cough cough US-27 cough cough and make some money, lol. but seriously, I've always loved the S/C. I respect the turbo but IMO, domestics and anything bigger than 4cyls should use a s/c since the s/c has more power in the lower RPMs where we operate...or so I've always thought...im still new to the world of forced induction

Hi Timelock. I've only had the Paxton for a year now, but I love it! The power increase between 40 and 100 mph is incredible. I installed forged components (pistons, I-beam rods, and crankshaft) long ago in anticipation for the blower, but the Paxton folks claim it won't put too much stress on the stock components.
The install is similar to that in this link:

My engine compartment doesn't look nearly that good, but that's why I have the motor and trans pulled for a little winter-time engine compartment detail
. I'll have it back together later this month, and I'll post pics then. I have an aftermarket EFI, so the big doghouse enclosing the carb in the link is a lot bigger than the setup in my '66.
The install was fairly easy. I had to have a bypass valve tig-welded into the aluminum duct, install a tee at the oil pressure sending unit for lubrication, then punch a hole in the oil pan for the return line. Maintenance is minimal. All in all, I think it was money well spent...but I haven't conviced my wife yet...[:@]
