Default Testing for Spark

Its been about 15 years since I've tested for a spark at the plug. "Why" you might ask??? Because I'm a sissy. That's why.

The last time I did I got quite a shock and almost wet myelf. I can't remember the exact details, in fact I can't even tell you if I was holding the plug with my bare hands...and this was on a 50cc moped with a kick start.

Anyway...what is the proper/safe way to test for a spark?!? Please enlighten me so that I can look at myself in the mirror!

Thanks.

Have someone inside to turn the engine over for you. Take you plug out and put the wire on it, then just ground out the side of the plug and see if its arcing. If its grounded it won't shock you.

I definitely deserve that!

Ideal and Brandon - Thanks for the advice to avoid the shock. I hate screaming like a little girl...
