More Power?
I just got my first mustang ever, a 1965 Mustang GT with a 302. It's got the factory four speed with a new racing clutch from Summit Racing, stock valves and headers. My parents think that it's fast enough already (and it is FAST) but I think it needs a little more power. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
Love the nickname. An Underdrive pulley set up ($200.00) will give you a few more pony's and/or changing to an electric fan will too. Aftermarket headers are nice. These are things you can do before playing with the engine set up.
To start with, I'd go through and give it a good tuning. Spark plugs, new wires, distributor cap and rotor. If it's got points, switch to a Pertronics electronic ignition module. Set timing. Simple and cheap. Then a new air filter, oil change, radiator fluid change and belts. Check air pressure in tires. Lubricate all the zerk fittings, even repack the front wheels.
After that I'd leave alone for at least 6 months to drive and get the feel of it.

Start with your exhaust (aftermarket LT's, new exhaust tubing, mufflers...etc..) and +1 to checking out what gear ratio you have in the thing. If it is decently fast now, swapping gears will make a noticeable difference for a minimal price. Exhaust will help it breathe a little better, and then from there, you can start to look into bigger power mods (I would stay away from cams and heads until you get a feel of the thing....theres a lot more you can do FIRST before you even touch the internals).

Drive the thing and learn it's attitude. Get a feel of what she likes and dislikes.
This is like a girlfriend. Just take your time here and see if she's a keeper
An Underdrive pulley set up
if you want alot of power, do a camshaft swap
If it's got points, switch to a Pertronics electronic ignition module
