Default few extra ponies

okay so i have new intake manifold, carburator, i already have headers and full exhuast, and a shift kit. im looking for a few more things to add some ponies before i have to really spend some cash (heads!). i could get a camshaft, ive heard that will greatly improve my performance, and maybe some gears (3.55 or 3.80s) although ive heard they will be a pain in the *** for DD in a c4 (the gears that is). what other things can i do to add a little power here and there that wont be super espensive like head work? camshaft and gears are probably the last things on my list, oh and i have a petronix ignitor system. anything else before head work? thanks guys.

well, you got intake, carb, shift kit, headers and full exhaust. well, next is either cam or gears, and who said biggers gears is a PITA to drive with a c4? get a bigger stall maybe?

How many miles on your engine? I would'nt think you would want to spend much more on upgrades unless the engine was fresh. If not, that is were I would spend my money. Basic rebuild where I live costs about $1,200 (thats with a upgraded timeing chain set). Your existing heads can be rebuilt and even enhanced for relatively little $$.

you'd be fine with 3.55's and the C4....I could DD mine if I had to on 3.55's. You'll suck a lil more gas maybe, but driveability won't be affected until you jump up into a higher ratio.

I think we have the exact same setup. I'm not in a huge rush to upgrade my engine right now since i'm in college. But if I was going to I'd go with heads and a new cam. Then gears when I find out i can't put all that power to the ground.

cam i'd say would definately help out. but as other's have said, how's your engine as far as how many miles you've done. there's always a weakest link, and you wanna keep those links strong

sorry guys, i shoulda said how many miles. its the original 289, with 54k original miles to date. good runner, no smoke or anything, had it taken out and cleaned up all that stuff about 2k 1000 miles ago. but i dont think it was rebuilt (just got the car, looked good had a mechanic do what he thought was necisarry so i dont think he rebuilt it)

roller rockers add a few ponies plus add some stability in the upper RPMs. And if you plan on getting a higher gear, you'll be using those RPMs too.

go with the gears right now. Which ones do you have right now? Im thinking about going with 3.25's thats so much better then my 2.80's.
