Default harmonic balancer

Can that seal be replaced? Or is it better to buy a new harmonic balancer? Its kinda beat up anyway.

REPLACE IT!!!!!

heres a link to a quality, better than stock yet cheap balancer:

http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...ctModelId=5968

they make this in a 50 oz as well. they have 3 and 4 bolt pulley patterns and three sets of timing marks. they say they are good to 6000 rpm's but ive spun mine up to 7000 many a times ; )

That isn't a seal. It's part of the damper.

Go aftermarket for a replacement. You'll want the same weight as what you have (28oz for early, 50oz after mid-81). Fluidampr and TCI make good replacements. 6k rpm is nothing for a 302, so shoot for something that's rated a bit higher.

your joking right? lol

agreed that a fluidamper or tci is a better choice - but i figured if the guy is contemplating using that disaster of a balancer something cheap yet better than stock would be in order.
....and again

ive spun mine up to 7000 many a times ; )

I've spun a stocker up to 7k. Is it a good idea? Nope, but that doesn't stop me.

You gave and option and I gave more options. Never know someone else's budget or intent or how it's built up.
