How much do you have in your car?
I've got every reciept from the first dime I spent. I'm right at 6k. That is with Labor on the trans and a few other things I had to farm out.
I'm now saving money for a final paint. When it's all said and done, I should be below the 15k mark I hope.

5000 - Car
5000 - Paint job
1000 - wheels and tires
600 - interior
_______________
That's 11,600 for the obvious, but God knows how much I have spent on little things such as a new radiator, fuel pump, hoses, Monte Carlo bar, etc. I venture to guess I have over 13,000 in mine and it still has the original unmolested drive train.

The car is a 10'er. It looks outstanding from there. As you get closer it starts to show its down falls. I am not one for filler, so it'll be all new metal. That's all that is left on the project. Well, as far as major stuff. I'll do the engine bay at the same time the car gets painted. I may opt for taller gears down the road and may even splurge for a rally pack to finish things off, but that's it. By that time I will probably have another project. The wife keeps nudging me everytime we go to a swap meet, lol.
My mother as said it was never polite to discuss money. But since you asked...
I am in my middle 50's and have put away money for the last 20 years to go to a "hobby car". It wasn't until the last two years that I settled on the fasback Mustang. It took me over a year and a half to find the car I was looking for. I bought it for $24,000.
With the addition of a Paxton Supercharger, audio system, new wiring, Racaro seats, all new mechanics, complete interior resoration I will have over over 50,000 - which is what the car is appraised for.
It isa great deal of money but I would rather have this than a Porsche or Mercedes or any other new car (which would lose half its value in 3 years). If I were knowledgable enoughto have done my own work I could have saved a lot. But I am not very good a mechanical stuff. Which is why I value this site so much.
Has anyone else on this board been crazy enough to pour this much into a vintage Mustang?

I judged the 428CJ's at the MOCA show last year, and they are valued at something around 100K. However, I personally would not even think of investing that amount of money in a Ford product.
