so we were at a stop light, and we took off, he just burnt rubber and starting sliding all over, and I passed him ,i was like I got him he is making too many errors, but then once he got straight I could just see the power of that beast and it passed me, and I had the gas done all the way, but he kept on going farther and farther from me, it was pretty crazy.

yeh i feel ya that sucks...but hey you gots to admit those trans am are quick!!! as for me i still haven't raced any new cars yet...all they do is look and pass by but nothing serious ......i guess they can look but cant touch..lol

Ya, what can i say his car is faster you know.

I am not done with my car, but I know when I am, I'll still lose against him, but o well you will never be the fastest, and I like my car anyhow, it's a classic.

You have to remember that you 289 4v only had 225hp, thats less than 170hp to the wheels. The Hi-Po had 271hp and around 220hp to the wheels. The trans am has a fuel injected, computer controlled, more cubic inches motor. The only way to beat them is to get better heads, intake system and exhaust system. The mustang is lighter in weight and that is our biggest advantage. Squese another 100hp out of it or drop in a 351w and smoke their ***.

Also remember, when you look at both cars, which one turns more heads going down the street, and which one will be worth more money in 10 years. The mustang wins every time.

Anyhow, I have a 302 4bbl, and it is pretty well built Edelbrock parts consist of: air cleaner, timing chain, cam and lifters, manifold, and 600cfm carb

and I just got a B&M shiftkit installed

I also have flowmaster dumped exhaust, it is the loudest car around town

I am still gonna go with a Mollery electric ignition, and I am gonna change my rear end gears around.

But I am saying, this will make my car faster somewhat, yes, but the 2001 trans am was just crazy, after I do the rest of my stuff I could get closer to beating it, but I'll need some more.

But owell you can never be the fastest, and what 2plus2 said........Oh ya i hear ya brother


and considering that my car can beat just about every car on the road, except if you are like driving a vette, i am pretty happy with it.

I got a Mollery on mine. it work great all but one time. Your 289 is fast but could still be a lot faster. You just tapped into the power of the 289 just a little bit. Your auto trans is hurting you and your rear end gears. My car is still not set up the way I want it. I raced a new mustang that was fast and I beat him. Old cars are the fastest thing out there, but the got some power. I new car can tear us old mustangs up in the turns. Thats ok with me. I am not going to be racing any more. I to wise for that. I just play and I know that if I want to, I can give then a run for thier money. Just think, My car looks lot cooler with all four windows down.
