What is this plug for?
Please forgive me if I'm not using the proper terminology here, I am learning.
I have a '66 Mustang with an aftermarket .351 in it. If I stand directly in front of the vehicle, the oil cap is to the right. In the back, there is another plug. In the enclosed pic, you see the plug in the back on the right side of the engine. It has a hose connected to it and it is underneath and to the right of the air filter.
What is this for?
How should I watch it?
How should I care for it?
Should I worry about it popping out under high pressure?

can you photoshop an arrow or something??? the "back" of the engine isnt even visible in the pic...and if its rightu nder the air filter it would have nothing to do with the back of the engine...?
and when you say, plug...do u just mean like a wire is coming out of whatever it is?

Either a charcoal filter or a PCV . .
The charcoal filter canister goes to the carb vent bowl.
Your picture . Like shifty said, is not clear.
If the picture is what you meant then the hose is going to the PCV. (Positive crankcase ventilation valve) in the valve cover. But the oil filter is on the other side. This valve has a slight vacuum on it and clears gases built up in the crankcase threw the valve cover and puts them into the intake system to be cycled out the exhaust. Gases get to the crankcase via the gap in the piston rings.
Old engine technology is so nice.

yeah he means pcv valve.... if you can shake it and it rattles, your good.
it should be plumbed back into the air cleaner type of area, or you can replace it with a small filter.
hows that for detailed advice?

In that picture, the hose coming from the back of the valve cover is the pcv valve. Thepcv hose goes into the back of the carb.
