66 build update
I finally finished the engine bay and sprayed it out with bed-liner.
Yes I did shave the fire wall back about 1.5" and lost the heater cut outs.
I will add a after market unit later on and run the lines thru behind the right fender.
This is not the roll in kit @ Pepboys.
My buds @ Auto Classic Color gave me the real deal its a $400 spray kit some one bought and changed their mind
after they opened it and saw how thick it was. lol They hooked me up for $150 Thanks guys.
It did spray out nice with a cheap $30 HVLP gun from Northern. 1.8 tip size and 60 lbs of preassure.
The same goes for floor pans in and underneath, as well as the inner rear fenders and inside roof.
My 347 should be ready by thursday. Balanced stroked with AFR heads, comp cam and much much more.
Blow thru carb and Paxton-ized it should be fun.
I had to get a 7qt Canton Racing dual sump oil pan to clear the main stud girdle.
I have a friend that is going to weld in a AN fitting on the inside of the pan for me.
(BTW I found out that stands for Army ,Navy standard,) for the oil return for the Paxton.
I just cant do the punch a hole in a $300 oil pan and tap the flange.
My bud Rick does off-shore race boats and has had leaking problems with that technique.
Besides I would rather have the same braided race lines instead of the black rubber.
You will see I have switched to the Rod and customs front end kit.
Tubular a arms rack and pinion steering and disc brakes.
Great customer support from Bill.
All of my dumb-*** questions was explained in detail by him and he was the one to find me the right oil pan.
Tying the front to the rear is sub frame connecters and a roll-bar while keeping rear seat is waiting to be installed.
The rear suspension is Grab a track 5 spring mid eye leaf springs with the H.D urethane shackle kit.
Edelbrock I.A.S shocks.
I added the Traction master bars as well altho it may be over kill since I have the 5 leaf springs.
Since Im putting in 500+ H.P wheel hop sucks.
Currie trac loc 9" 325 gears.
Altho I had a top loader 4 speed,There was nothing I was going to use form the old setup anyway.
I picked up a automatic to 5 speed conversion kit Keisler engineering.
They came up with a TKO 500 and they did the math for me based on tire size and gear ratio and H.P.
No need in building this car with all new set up front and rear suspension with more power than I can use just not to get it to the ground.
The old 4 speed would just get broken.
It is Expensive! But Im gaining a S.F.I.bell housing and a hydro clutch now.It comes with every thing including the drive shaft.
Too keep it cool a Be cool radiator that thing is huge! Dual electric fans and a billet overflow tank.
It is a cross flow design and sits on the frame rails and goes all the way across frame to frame.
It is worth looking into,The way it mounts is not at all stock.
Look for up dates and it will be in place in a couple of weeks.
With more parts than I care to list ill keep you guys informed as it goes,Feed back is welcome.
I do expect to get flamed somewhere down the line for chopping up a classic but each is own.
This is the most extensive project I've done to date.
It is tough to slow down and do it right with all the details that makes a great ride.
I am having the time of my life and my son is too.
look @ all my photos I still havent figured out the photo site yet lol.
