Default Before and After

Hey boys...just spent 12 hrs painting the block and cleaning up the sides.....i reckon it looks pretty nice!! Next thing...well......chrome pulleys!!

Before: http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/8610/dsc002574jg.jpg

After: http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/9205/dsc006205af.jpg

The headers running out of the exhaust manifold are now a rust/red oxide colour..any idea what i could do to them? Black? Chrome? Silver?

Get your head out of the way. Are you saying you painted your headers red oxide? Or do you mean you painted your exhaust manifold red oxide?

fixed

hedders and exhaust manifolds are two different things.

Looks sharp. I sprayed my manifolds with some 1500 degree silver paint. Look pretty good I think. Better than the rust.

You don't paint headers any color. In fact you don't paint headers at all. You are obviously talking about your exhaust manifolds. If they are already painted red oxide, then you could paint them silver as suggested, or paint them black. My choice would be black. Get the hight temp paint.

They arent painted.. lol. Thats how they look after years and miles of use. The factory didnt paint them, they just left them bare metal. If you want them painted, you need to pull them off, have them beadblasted to remove the flaky rust and then use a high temp paint. Sounds like alot of effort doesnt it? I would just leave them alone, but thats me..lol.

Alternatively, you could order a set of ceramic coated headers for it, and upgrade to dual exhuast. They look shiny and they keep underhood temps down by keeping the heat inside the header. The ceramic coating is a thermal barrier and it looks nice. Figure $300-$600 for a seet of ceramic coated headers. And really I would replace them with headers, but you arent me.. so there be your options.. at least IMHO...

i think ill leave them on..lol..or mask off the surrounding area and spray them with high temp paint if i get the urge to make them look shiny...$600 a pot...lol.....well....for that much id much rather wait till the manifold canes itself....otherwise...nope...but thanks for the heads up tho..
