you'll be quite happy with the edelbrock performer rpm setup, everything is matched so it takes the parts pickin' guesswork out. just use a set of flattops and get your rotating assembly balanced so you can wind 'er up to 7k rpm's and it'll be a ricer asser whooper

oh yeah, go with some 5/16 arp waveloc rod bolts..... stock rod bolts are a big no-no on 289's/302's and drilling the rods for 3/8's bolts just weakens the metal surrounding the bolts.

have you thought about a short block? you get the best of both worlds, and most come pre balanced and blueprinted!!

If your goal is to "restore" the car to factory fresh, then rebuild, you or a shop.

If your goal is to "resto mod restore" then crate.

Depends on the outcome you want.
