Default new coil

if this has been covered before i apologize for not searching for the right key words
anyway
i am thinking about upgrading my stock coil to either a flame thrower or a blaster to go with the pertronix igntion inside my distributer

do i need to bypass the resistor wire and put a full 12v on the new coil or is the standard 6v wire going to work?

thanks,

I put on a Pertronix Ignition on along with the Flamethrower coil and used the standard 6v wire, It is fine.

Yes, that way to hook it up will work as long as your volts don't fall below 7.5. The Pertronix module requires at least that much. I would really hate to be in Minnesota at this time of the year during a snow storm and the ignition voltage fell below 7.5. The sure fire way to assure you are getting 12 volts to the pertronix is to run a wire from your ignition and bypass the pink resistor wire. I have a how-to in the FAQ regarding this procedure.
