This guy uses rubberized undercoating. Did the factory use that when new? I always thought that rubberized undercoating was a bad idea because it actually locked in moisture. I ask because at some point I need to get my inner rockers replaced (they have a few small holes) and this guy seems to be an expert, but I'm confused on his undercoating method. Of course if you ask him he'll tell you its the best way to go. Any input?

I used a sawzaw, air hammer, and air cut off tool. to cut the floorpan out.

The inside of the front frame rail is shiny and clean. What should I use to protect it from future rust?

Thanks

When we did floor pans on a 67 my friends uncle worked for a ford dealership and got him a good deal on a factory undercoating. I'm not sure what the cost to an everyday joe would be , but they did a really nice job.

I have been using Eastwoods rust encapsulator and then truck bed coating on top of that. I figure if it is good enough for a truck bed then It will be fine especially over Eastwoods encapsulator.

BTW I am really impressed with the encapsulator!!!

3M makes some stuff too, they also have a product you put in the seams before you start cutting/welding. It's supposed to add protection from rust and lessen mig splatter or something.
by the way jrrhd do you fly AH64s?

I used to. I have 600 hours in them. I am a civilian contractor now, modifying AirForce Aircraft - mainly the HH-60 but I work on the MH-53 and CV-22.

Well, they didn't come that way from the factory. If you use the red oxide you will be San Jose factory correct. However, I put a couple layers of black paint of top of the red oxide. I an afraid to use undercoating because it eventually turns loose and traps moisture. Maybe not the Rhino pickup bed liner stuff though.
