Default Floorpan progress! pics

I finally started on replacing my floorpans this evening. I got the old cut out and the new fitted on the pass. side. Hopefully I can start welding soon.

Is it best to punch holes in the sheetmetal then weld it or just weld the seam?

Rosette welding is the preferred way. It is a plug - and- fill form of spot welding. Here is a super how-to article you ought to read before you go any further.

Soaring, I read the article and it looks like they plug anf fill on the frame rails and the cross member. The rest looks to be welded along the seams, is that correct?

Yes, that's right. The rosette weld simulates/duplicates the spot welds that were on the frame and crossmember.

Yeah, spot weld until you get the floor all tacked on, then continue to spot weld until it is filled in all the way around. Get yourself some seam sealer on those seams, then it's time for primer and paint. Yeeeehhawwww!

Did you leave it just bare metal on the side or apply some sort of primer?

Make sure that when you weld the metal is bare. It will look a lot worse and be harder to weld if you haven't knocked off the paint and stuff before you start welding.

What did you cut the floor pans out with?
