bad experience with cal-mustang
I learned a hard lesson today at Cal Mustang in Los Angeles. I got a bit excited several months ago and purchased the steering kit with the a-arms, etc. Getting the foundation sorted out on my 66 took a bit longer than I wanted (work has been brutal). I went to put grease in the lower control arm ball joint and found out it had a small tear in it - you couldn't even see it until a little bit of grease came out. When I took it back to Cal-Mustang, they told me that it was over 30 days since purchase and there was nothing they could do. The guy wouldn't even call the manufacturer to explain that they had a brand new part that they sold several months ago that was defective. And then the guy had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to buy one since they had them in stock. Although I had thought about buying a new one and taking the old one back for a refund, I was so pissed off that I just took my part and got the phone number of the manufacturer to call tomorrow - he is in Florida so the shipping would probably cost half of the price of a new one.

i dont believe ive used them before ive had trouble out of national parts depot for trying to make returns on parts they just wanted to know y i couldnt fix it(part wasnt tapped[:@] i was 15 i didnt have a tap and die set[:'(]) and that was just on one occasion
i recently had a nightmare with them also...i ordered some parts 3 weeks later still not here, i called them they said they shipped it even though i didnt get a tracking #, they pretty much told me to go **** myself and i had to call them probably 5 more times before someone told me that they were still on the shipping dock and must of got overlooked! They didnt even say sorry, or whoops or here is a 25% off coupon...but they sure charged my card asap! i will never use them again!
I went to cal-mustang because they were local and I thought that they would go the extra mile to help you out, disappointing to say the least[:@] Since I live in southern ca, thanks for the heads up on NPD - I drive out their direction every couple of weeks and had thought about using them.
I just purchased a few items from them. One was a reproduction steering wheel that arrived with a bigger crack in it than my 40 year old one. They were real good about taking it back and said they would pay for my shipping. I should get the new one in a day or 2 and I hope it isn't cracked too. Even if it isn't I imagine it might sooner than later based on the quality of the first. I only paid 99 bucks for the thing so my expectations aren't that high, but still it is described as quality. I guess we will see. Here is the cheapo wheel I bought.

SHR, wow now that really sucks and you have to love the attitude[:@]
too bad because when I went there a couple of times several months ago, there wasa young guy working there that seemed really knowledgable and very helpful. there was all new staff there today except for the rude old asian lady in the front. never again and NPD is off the list, I will have to keep it to Vintage in Pico Rivera - they were really helpful on helping me acquire a 65 8" rear end for me

Colostang, another thumbs down, don't know how companies like this stay in biz. Of course, LA is a big city so they probably figure that what the heck. I was into Supra's at one point back in the day and there was a couple of vendors that had a reputation like these guys. I shoulda done the research I reckon'

FWIW, Cal-Mustang seems to be a bit pricier than National Parts
wow, that stinks. I've had two really good experiences. 1 NPD. I ordered new key blanks, one fell out of the box. called em up, and they said yeah, happens all the time. They sent me two more just to be sure.
2 Mustang Depot. Ordered what I thought was 3.55 gears (before I did my research). They ship the gears directly from the manufacturer. Got the gears and they were 3.00s. Called them up and said they had a problem with their web page. Offered a refund if I sent the gears back, or they would give me the number to the manufacturer and pay me to ship them for new ones. Well I said I'd keep the 3.00s (after I did some research), and it was all good.
They even sent me a poster (whoooo hooo
) and a coupon.
