Default please check my research

Ok
so i have been reading all i can about about the GT40 head swap
and it seems like something i might want to try to tackle

but first id like to get confirmation on everything i read to cut down on time and money

i can get heads off of a 95-97 explorer 5.0, i thought i would go for 96 just to be safe
identifying marks will be GT stamped on the head and three casting marks

i can use my stock exhaust manifold and upgrade to hedders later with no fitment issues with the GT40s but the GT40Ps will require long tubes

GT40s will reduce compression and therfore horsepower unless you get them milled .030

i must by new 1.7 rockers to work with the heads. i read this but couldnt find much info about what else beside the roller rockers are needed

my stock valve covers will work

did i miss anything orget anything wrong

i checked theFAQand didnt see anything specific
a how to write up or a definitive stickywould be great

I tried the gt40p heads on my 70, 302 and had issues because of the plug angle. There is only one header that will fit and it didnt fit in the car.I modified a set of manifolds and had to make a spacer plate for the driver side.Put heat socks on the plug boots and still burned them.Had to change the valve springs as they were too strong from the factory and ate several pushrods before I figured it out.Its too bad I couldnt somehow make it work, they were great flowing heads that made good power even with the restrictive manifolds.I switched them out for aluminum ones.
