cheap? ha, go to nitrous. course then u blow your engine but thats probably by hp/price ratio your best bet. but like everyone else has said. performer rpm intake, new carb, cam, long tube headers, k&n filter (wont get u ne thing noticable but hell its another hp, like another penny in you pocket)

btw nitrous is legal

I also have been investigating universal turbo's that hook to a cap on the carb and are electrically powered off the alternator. They claim to improve MPG and gain about 40HP, they can also be run all the time or at the flick of a switch. They also claim not to dim lights and are energy effecient. Has anyone had experience with one of these?
thease are ebay scams and do NOT work. there has been like 18 posts about similar products in the 2005-2007 section

Pick two... cheap - fast - reliable

I'd go with carb, intake manifold and exhaust as a first stage. These are relatively low budget and easy labor.
Stay away from the generic turbos, tornados, fuel pills, etc. they are scams. "If it sounds too good to be true..."

The recomendations as far as top end (cam carb intake) I definately support, but be careful. If you have a high mileage engine (without recent rebuild) and you put a large cam in you'll be more likely to rev the engine higher (thats the point right?). If you start revving that thing way beyond what it has seen for the last 80000-100000 miles you may put a little more stretch in the piston rods and find yourself with a top piston ring that aint so pretty because its been making love to the natural groove that exists in your cylinder walls.

Thankyou for all the info.

I think I will just roll with a light cam, new intake and carb.

On a side note: Does anyone know of any 2barrel performance intakes? I have a very nice holly 2barrel repro 500cfm carb that id like to put to use....

I don't get it? You want performance, are willing to make the effort to upgrade, and then you want to put a 2 barrel carb on there? Scratching my head... [&:]

well I have the the carb extra, but at any rate 500cfm should be more than enough for a stock small bock, am I wrong?
