Default Testing Fan Clutch

Is there a correct way to determine if a fan clutch needs to be replaced? See if it continues spinning when the motor is shut off?

Start the car and heat it up to normal temperature. Then turn the car off. Spin the fan and if it travels more that 1 1/2 revolutions the clutch is probably worn out and needs replaced.

a clutch fan WILL always spin, but when its not fully engauged its not dragging HP away from the motor so bad, its kinda just flappin in the breeze

Is the car overheating when it is sitting still? If not then your clutch fan is probably ok. If the car overheats sitting still and then you drive the car at a constant speed and the temp falls to normal levels the clutch is probably bad.

I do not believe that the the 351C should have a clutch fan at all actually. If it is the same as the 351W the correct fan is a 5 blade fan with no clutch. I do not have my book in front of me with part numbers. Maybe someone else can chime in?
