some late model motors have stretch bolts - older ones dont. when we'd build stock small block chevy's we'd throw away the newer style bolts and use the 30 year old bolts cause they're better

*edit* just put a little oil in the thread holes and some more under the head of the bolt to make sure you have an accurate torque. too much oil in the bolt hole will basically hydrolock the bolt in the hole and you'll get a false reading.

>>>torqu to yeail <<<

Is that English you are writing Stephen? I have no idea of what you just typed. You really should consider tapering off on the weed.

I called up my local NAPA store today, and asked for a set of head bolts for my 287 (1967). The guy at NAPA said he didn't have them, and couldn't get them. He sais that they are different than 302 head bolts, and that the two are not interchangeable. What do you guys say? Can I just get a set from an early 90s 302?
Just find a local bone yard and get what you need. Alot cheaper and you can find them a plenty.
i dont know about where you live

but here, the closest bone yard is about an hour and a half away and most of them wont let me walk around and look

it really ticks me off and when i do find something, they overcharge!

and most dont save cars they crush them after a week, i once found a 67 I6 coupe, completely rusted out, $10k for it, and the guages i pulled off it they wanted $999.99

**** that noise
