been there, did it pretty much exactly as I said, except putting it all back together before taking it in. That part was a lot harder. Didn't try to cut the bolts off though. Was trying to get them loose. couldn't budge them a bit and did not have anything to cut them out with in advance, hence the advice as someone said earlier be prepared.

Mine came out of my 68 with very little effort. nice to get a car that came from south Texas. When I did my 67 back in 1972 after five years in the north east, it was a nightmare.

ORIGINAL: gothand

I must be the only guy to never have had any problems with those darn things and still have the original bolts in the three early Mustangs in my family. Lucky me.
Na I had no problems getting mine off but I tossed the old bolt and got new ones. PB Blaster was my friend lots of it and let in soak over night and then lots more.

Last night I got the u bolts off, the shock is off, the rear shackle nuts are loose, and the front bolt nut is off. I put some penetrating on the bolt and am hoping this might help, most likley not. Therefore, where is the best place to purchase new leaf springs. Not re-arched, used etc.

They are all made in the same Chinese factory, so what Mustang company you get them from is not in question. Find the one nearest to you so the shipping will be the least amount of moolah.

Update. It only took one hour, plus the time I spent last night, about two hours to CUT the front bolt. Six sawzall blades. The bolt was case hardned. This is for the passenger side only. I think I have a few tricks for the drivers side, but it will be different I think.

I practically took apart my 54 F-100 with a cutoff wheel. Not hard, just loud. Becarful not to catch on fire!
