Some quick advice before tomorrow, please!
Hey all,
I'm gonna go look at this car tomorrow:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/277928861.html
The guy told me one other small section of metal should be cut out and replaced. Also, the transmission is now an auto when it was a stick originally (clutch pedal still there). I know it needs paint so I might do it myself. Anyway, I don't know if I would pay the asking price. What do you guys think? I'm gonna go see it tomorrow saturday at 10am. Thanks!

dont look bad if talk him done since it needs paint check the cowl vent see if its rusted out easiest way granden hose in the cowl vent if the floor gets wet its rusted and check the frame rails with a hammer .look for rust and anything that looks out of place i wouldnt pay more then 3,500 for it but thats me
I bought my 67 coupe in better shape than that, except the interior which is cheap, for $3500. But the other guys are right, it would prolly be money well spent if you could get the price down a little.
These are my thoughts exactly. Price is too high. I wish I was better at dealing sales like this. My points to tell the guy why it's too high are the fact that: it's an I6, needs paint, possible cowl rust and other places, can find V8's for similar asking price in just as good shape, also it has an aftermarket/different transmission than was factory, which always leaves me feeling a little put off. Alright, thanks for the quick responses.
Dude if I were you I'd go take a look at this one... I'm from Oregon and for some reason Seattle's mustangs are always a bit higher priced than Portland and the surrounding areas...
Here's a nice one in Hood River. Heck I maybe even able to stop by there tomorrow and take a look at it for you. It's only about a 3 hour drive from Seattle. He's been trying to sell it for a month or so now.. I've seen other pics and they don't look to terrible at all.

1965 Ford Mustang1965 Ford Mustang coupe
V8, 302
3spd manual
Edelbrock carb, intake, and cams
Mallory Ignition
Hurst Shifter
Ford 9in rearend
Cragar wheels. (discontinued)
Runs and drives really good, very strong!!
Lots of new parts with a history of receipts. About 5,000 miles on engine
At a great point to finish the project.
I have a lot of extra parts including all the 302 badges and interior pieces, I had just decided to wait on all of the badges until I had a fresh paint job done on the car.
I have just ran the car through the shop for another potential buyer with no problems only needing a tierod end and a brake adjustment. The car will drive long distances without any problems.
The interior and the paint are in need of restoration. The body is very straight and the interior is in need of reupholstering. The dash and all accessories very clean..
I love this car to death and really do not want to sell it, but I do not have enough money coming in to keep. Plus I moved into a new house without a garage.
I have owned the car for 2 years, the previous owners of the car were the original owners. I have a free and clear title for the car.
Please Serious Inquires ONLY!!!
Asking $4600 or best reasonable offer, there is no real bluebook for what the car is worth, but NADA.com is a pretty accurate web site of classic car values.
My car will be available to show this weekend, but please have money available.
I do not have access to my computer right now, but wanted to post this ad and this is the only picture I have available right now.

Thanks Plainsmen,
but I'm not too good with the standard drive. I think I'm leaning towards an auto to cruise in. That does look like a deal though! I appreciate your offer but you won't need to go see it unless you're interested. I've wanted a v8, but the prices of an I6 is appealing to me. I got to drive an I6 and it was pretty alright.

again like most have said, go with v8. u can find a auto for about the same price. i know ppl with disagree (like jmd, aha jk) but you'll always wish u had the v8 and resale value for i6's is....well....look at the car your getting. u could throw a whole lot of money at it but if your gonna buy it u probably should buy it to restore and show as is with the i6 and keep it and not sell it. i got mine for 7,200 and it was in really good condition (i know the price is a little high 4 u) but i would def look for v8's. if need be talk to some friends, family and learn manual. i learned on manual and i hated learning on it but i wouldnt take it back for the world. I LOVE MANUAL....wish my stang was even if the autos are worth more
Don't settle. Get the one you want. Sometimes getting the first one you see or getting one in your area, butis not what you want may seem good at the time but in the long run you spend more money changing it to what your after than just waiting for the right one. Price may be a factor now but the little more you may have to put out now will be 10X less in the future. Good luck...
That one Plainsmen posted looks great. LCC is right too, don't settle. I paid 6k for a Mustang I knew nothing about, wasn't as solid as I thought, didn't run well, needs almost a complete restoration, and it's a coupe. I wish I would have waited now and every time I see something like the '65 302 above I cringe because I'd be driving it daily by now.
