Default push rods and valve lash

Ok folks I have tightened the valve lash as per the FAQ piece my question is after the tightening i recheck the push rods and could still twist them when they should be tight have i missed someting. Plus i need to know disturbuter and cylinder order as i made one wrong label.

They will still turn a bit, because the hydrualic lifters dont have the plunger solidly mounted. They just dont freewheel, there should be some drag on the pushrods but not like they are stuck in a vise.

Heres the info on firing order and stuff.. =)

Are you sure you did the extra 3/4 turn? You have to be careful not to tighten them too much as you will burn the valve if they are too tight. If they are rattling, then you probably need to tighten them another 3/4 turn. If they are not rattling, and the push rods are loose, then you are good to go.

The next time you forget your firing order on your 289, look on the intake on the back side of the carburetor and it is stamped there.

valve lash is tighten until theres no slop and then between 1/2 - 1 turn more.

you'll know your set correctly when the pushrods arent loose but will still rotate, and when you lift on the rocker arm there should be some plunge to the lifter
