a_stone_def, please keep in mind that Herculiner is COMPLETELY different than the coating Unique appears to be using. The material Unique is using looks more like a Rhino or Line-X coating. Herculiner is VERY rough, and will be very difficult to clean, or keep clean. I have used Herculiner on 3 different vehicles, and on one of those I did the rocker panels with Herculiner. After I did that it was impossible to run a rag over the rocker panel to wipe anything off, and the nice dark black color I started with turned a dull, dirty gray in a couple of months of use. Herculiner works great for pick up beds, vehicle tubs, under fenders, etc, but you do not clean those with a rag. Folks that have done rocker panels with Line-X or Rhino do not have that problem, as the material is much smoother, and easier to clean. Personally, I think you should look into a smoother material to coat your engine compartment with. I like the look as well, and have thought about the same for my car, but I would NOT use Herculiner to to do it. Just my .02

I used a SEM Weld product in my sons truck, The paint shop was able to match the color perfectly, and it is a Catalyzed product, which will be more durable, and be minimaly effected by caustic chemicals. Also, it is a reasonably smooth product that cleans easily.

Sorry for the delay! I would like to give you a good excuse but,, I was going to come back to this thread and answer after I skipped around a little and I just forgot..

Anyway I got my product at automotive paint store. They are a retailer for DuPont paints and some other products. The cost was about $200.00 a gallon, including applicator gun w/ 2 cups.

They can tint the product to your specs, and it is easy to apply, with the only catch being that once you mix the catylist in you have only about 15 mis to spray it. It can and will begin to solidify in the applicator device is you dont get right with the program. Mask off well, this stuff is very hard to get off of ANYTHING it gets on even before it dries.
