Unless you want to do MAJOR work on the rear of the car wo allow much wider tires a 406 stroker is overkill. The Speed-O-Motive 347 stroker is what I think is the best compromize for a street car with tires that fit the rear wells. You can get 400 hp without having to rev past 6000.

Now, if you want to build that kind of hp with a 302 use the 5.4 in rod with the Ford hp 302 block, steel crank, GT-40 big valve head, roller rockers, 700 cfm Double-pumper, the right manifold, Hooker Super-Comp headers and you won't need to spend the extra money for other drive-line parts to hold the 400 lbft of torque the 347 or 406 will build. Plus you will save the weight of those parts. And let's face it...having your red-line at 8000 IS kind of fun.

I work for this engine builder We build custom built crate motor I still can't believe how low the prices are. O and by the way he built NASCAR engines for over 30years before the teams took it all in house. We can build to suit pretty much what every you want to do with the car. The prices and horse power listed on the website are for the base engines with out upgrades. here is the linkhttp://tandlengines.com/
