Keep the six?
I bought a 67 coupe awhile back as I mentioned in other posts but im not sure what I should do engine wise.Heres the car to see what Ive go to work with.
As you can see I stripped it completely down and am ready to start the cowl and floors but i bought a complete 68 coupe for 600 bucks I personally dont like the 68 that much but I can use alot of parts off of it, its got a 200 I6 with everything except the distributor cap with an auto tranny, I cant use the tranny though my cars set up for stick which I want to keep. Heres what im looking at for the 68
See I have everything to just put the six back into mine (which is what came in it) I personally would like a V8 but my dad said since this is my first car im restoring I should go with the easier route and the next one I can go V8..I know he is right but what do you all think? Heres the interior of the 68

RE: Keep the six?
Stroker motors make plenty of power relatievely cheap. But everything will need to be changed whether you go with a 289 a stroked 351w or a Clevland, so you might as well go all out and build it right the first time if you ask me... I went through two 289's before I got the 408, which I love.

RE: Keep the six?
Im kinda lost on the 289 since some people tell me all you really need to change is the motor mounts, front brakes, and shocks and little things here and there...i know that i can get a 351 cleveland from the same guy i bought the 68 from, he has one in a torino behind the barn.....its a tough decision...

RE: Keep the six?
Get the 351 over the 289 imo. Although I don't like it when engines are in cars which weren't available during the time. Because it's a '67 I'd get a 390 over both of them if you can afford it.
