i have a transmission that i do not like.....

Shifter sequence:12DNRP
dont know wat kind of transmission it is but i would love to change the shifter to a ratchet or 3 speed or watever i dont even know how transmissions work....
is there anyway possible to change my shifting situation without having to buy a new transmission?

most likely its a C4, and changing the shifters isn't going to give you a different shift sequence. It will ALWAYS be 12DNRP (you could add an O/D, but in that case you may as well change to anAOD tranny). if what your looking to change is just the way in which your shifting the C4.....then there are a lot of different ratchet and gate shifters that will work with the C4 transmission.

google B&M and Hurst and then look for shifters compatible with a C4.

 

so wats the most creative or shall i say most enjoyable shifter style i can slap in there so i can be close to the feel of a manual transmission?

 

I shift my B&M ProStick all over town. it's a blast. Really Any ratchet shifter or gate shifter like mine will give you positive shifts (nice loud audible clicks when it goes into gear). The only thing with that is, if you're going to start shifting the car manually with an automatic, its a good idea to get a manual valve body and usually a decent shift kit so you don't go banging crap up.

so a ratchet shifter iswhat exactly? and how many individual gears can i crank out of a 12DNRP? i want more than just 2 gears to play with
