Default Moter Mount size

ok, so im STILL trying to get ready to install my engine.....

then i noticed a problem...

The NPD moter mounts I ordered are different from the ones that were in the car....

the ones in the car were identical in hiegth.....however the NPD mounts are different.

one of the NEW NPD part is identical to one of the old one......

however one of the NEW NPD parts is almost 1 inch or more higher ..... is this normal <<<<<<<<

Are they soposse to be the same hiegth ? or different hiegths...?

Did you just order replacement rubber mounts or rubber mounts & brackets? Also, do you have the 64/65 or the 66+ mounts? The 64/65 mounts have a left and right whereas the 66+ uses the same mount for both sides.

For my '65, I took out the essentially brand new mounts that I used with the 351W (about 40 miles on them) because I needed the taller 66+ mounts (many headers require these mounts). After ordering the mounts and brackets, I realized that I was still going to have clearance issues with my headers and these mounts. For only about $30 more, I returned them and got the Ron Morris Performance mounts. Unlike the stock mounts, these are through captured with a bolt (no need for a safety chain if you're running a lot of HP) and use polyurethane mounts (I haven't noticed any extra vibes).

Hope I helped in some way. If you can post pics that would help.

Did you swap from an I6 to a V8 and that is why you had to buy new frame brackets? The 66+ mounts are about an inch taller than the 65s. It only matters if you need the added height for header clearance, which my JBA headers do.

Too bad you bought some, I was just getting ready to sell my '65 mounts and brackets.

Re-reading your original post, it almost looks like you just ordered new replacement mounts. Below is a pic of my take-off '65 mounts. The two items on the left are the left and right hand motor mounts (6038-4 & 6038-5), bolted to the motor mount support brackets (6028-2A). To the right are the frame brackets (6030). Hopefully this helps you know what you're looking at.

the ones i bought are the motor mounts not the frame brakcts

the orginal engine was a 289. However I was told back in the 70s the engine was replaced with a 65 289 block.

I'll install the engie with the new replacement mounts. and hopefully everything will work fine....

If not ill try using the old moter mount....

Thanks for the help guys !
